The dangers of obesity

Obesity leads to a decrease in life expectancy. Obese people are at increased risk of cardiovascular events. From a certain degree, obesity also causes respiratory failure: it increases the risk of accidents during procedures requiring anesthesia and predisposes to breathing pauses during sleep. (Sleep apnea). The cancer risk also appears higher in obese. Finally, obesity increases the frequency of gallstones (especially in women) and aggravates osteoarthritis of knee and hip.
